Inception

Yes, I waited this long to watch "Inception". No, I didn't think it was that awesome. I should've just watched an episode of "Foyle's War," a BBC series about a man's brave attempt to never express strong emotions with his face (and WWII).

You'd think I would've loved "Inception", because my movie preferences when I'm by myself are dictated by two main concerns:

-Average handsomeness of cast

-My ability to fall asleep for three minutes at a time and not miss important plot points.

Inception does pretty well on both levels. No, really, it makes more sense if you take a nap halfway through.

You might be asking yourself how one goes about measuring average handsomeness in a movie. Great question. All you have to do is compare each actor to a paragon of handsomeness.

Basically, I prefer brunettes and anything that is not a Leonardo DiCaprio. I really should've gone with Foyle.

Guess who's back...

TyrionGame of Thrones is back, you guys, and I am super, super excited. I have to say, watching this show, having read the books, is like looking at the facebook pictures of a vacation that you took that you loved. I mean, if every one of your facebook albums had one gratuitous picture of a prostitute just really going for it with Awkward, Silent Extra Number 4. But no matter! It's great to have the show while I wait for "The Winds of Winter" to get written.

I wish there was more Night's Watch stuff, because the love between Sam and Jon is totally blooming in my mind. I am thinking those two are going to go full on Sam and Frodo, although I hope not because that nonsense was the worst on film. I wish there was a character that was just a Night's Watch prostitute. Maybe then that part of the story would get some more attention.

I am also considering taping a picture of boobs (not mine, possibly Molly's) to each manuscript that I send out. It sells, right?!

Maya!

Even though normally I am not that into Up All Night, because it's about parenthood and who cares, Maya Rudolph's face last night was so good.

Bonus favorite quote:

Ava, on the song she's playing: “It’s an original composition, titled ‘My Love Is In Idaho and My Heart Feels Like Knives (I Don’t Want to Do The Show).’ ”

Reagan: “What’s it about?”

Ava: “It’s about me, Reagan. And a little bit about climate change.”

Slings and Arrows

Slings and Arrows is such a good little comedy. When I first started watching it I was like "how did a satire about a Shakespearen company get a second season?" but then it turned out to be a Canadian show, and everything was explained. My favorite line is from the premier of the second season--the moment that I fell in love with this show for keeps--and is spoken in reference to a cremated theater director who's been replaced by his protégé, who can never quite get out from under the former's shadow:

"Oliver Wells is dead! I poured him in the river and swans ate him."

And they did.
